God of War’s duology of Norse-set masterpieces has cemented it as one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises. Born during the PS2 era, God of War made a name for itself with excellent action gameplay, an intriguing tale of divine revenge, and a memorable lead in the Spartan demigod Kratos. 18 years later, God of War has grown into gaming’s seminal action-adventure series, blending that increasingly fine-tuned action with deeper lore and a stronger narrative hook, anchored by an older, more empathic God of War Ragnarok having earned its place in the pantheon of all-time greats, we’ve created this chronology of the series for those interested in playing or replaying it from the toHow to play chronologicallyHow to play by release dateHow Many God of War Games Are There?Sony has released 10 God of War games in the series — six on home consoles, two on portable consoles, one on mobile, and one text-adventure on Facebook of War The Complete PlaylistHere's every single God of War release since the dawn of the gods. Since its 2006 debut on the PlayStation 2, God of War has been exceedingly influential in a great many genres. The Play Store has its fair share of apps that recapture God of War's fluid combat and awe-inspiring spectacle on the latest Android phones; some exceedingly popular games on the Play Store implement principles established in this seasoned franchise. From thrilling action games to exciting Metroidvania titles, God of War's hand can be felt in one form or another. We'd like to share our favorite games that play and look similar to God of War in today's roundup, where many are available for your favorite Android tablet. 1 Shadowblood Shadowblood is a top-down hack-and-slash RPG that pits your character against waves of monsters. You select your character class, each of which offers its own abilities and equipment, and head straight into the fray; there's even an avatar that fights with two blades if you want an experience that feels a bit more Kratos-y. In terms of gameplay, the primary loop is classic hack-and-slash combat with multiple attacks and combos at your disposal. Ultimately, the combat is satisfying and visually impressive, the controls are perfect for the mobile platform, and the various classes provide a great deal of replayability. 2 Mortal Kombat A Fighting Game The progenitor of video game violence, the Mortal Kombat series now has a modern iteration available on the best Android phones. The combat requires users to launch attacks by quickly tapping their opponent, with occasional quick-time events to swipe in certain directions to perform special attacks. The iconic fatalities return, and in defiance of tradition, they also take the form of quick-time events deployed during the actual animation. It's cool to see these iconic characters on the Android platform, and the gameplay is solid enough to make for a decent time waster. Best of all, you can play as Kratos, which is specifically why Mortal Kombat A Fighting Game is on the list. 3 Evil Lands Online Action RPG World of Warcraft fans will feel well served here; Evil Lands Online Action RPG places you into a third-person western fantasy sandbox full of quests, enemies, and things to explore. Before commencing the adventure, users select their starting class, equipment, and abilities. Progression revolves around questing, leveling up, and managing equipment and abilities, the usual MMORPG tune. The combat deserves special props for its fluidity and accessibility, starting with only a single attack button that branches out and an auto lock-on that switches between enemies almost instantaneously. The gameplay is solid, and the character progression is satisfying in that intangible RPG hard-to-put-down way. Worth a look if you’re in the market for a new RPG that offers plenty of GoW themes. 4 BladeBound RPG Adventure Game While offering similar primary and tertiary gameplay loops as the previous entry, BladeBound RPG Adventure game presents a more traditional RPG experience, definitely be a plus for some players. You begin by selecting one of two genders, although you surprisingly have no starting classes to choose from. After this, you are treated to a series of tutorial missions that run you through the combat and looting systems. The all-important action combat looks great and feels satisfying to play, with your character's multiple abilities making up for the lack of weapon variety. BladeBound is a bit of a hefty download, but it's easily worth the time invested. 5 Immortal Awakening Immortal Awakening provides a stellar online RPG experience in the same mold as World of Warcraft and Neverwinter. After selecting your character class, the game releases you into an open world full of enemies, quests, and other players. Combat takes the form of top-down hack-and-slash that starts simple but gains in complexity as you level up. Acquiring new abilities increases your battle prowess alongside your base stats, as do items acquired from completing quests and defeating enemies. One standout feature is the ability to auto-run towards quest objectives by pressing on your quest journal, a feature that proves very useful in densely populated areas and makes it impossible to get lost or wander into a high-level area by accident. While it's initially a little slow to get started, Immortal Awakening is a neat little RPG to keep you occupied. 6 ScourgeBringer A well-known and outstanding little genre fusion, ScourgeBringer is a 2D Metroidvania that attempts to marry that traditional explorative gameplay philosophy with the rogue-lite genre. You are the titular ScourgeBringer, a warrior investigating a varied and diverse series of dungeons full of danger and treasure. Combat provides that classic Devil May Cry setup of employing gunplay into your stylish swordsmanship combos. Enemies keep you on your toes with those bullet hell-inspired attacks that are pretty synonymous with both Metroidvania and rogue-lite games at this point, making great use of the 2D space. Style-wise, the game looks amazing; with so many things happening on screen at once, it can make your head spin. The game does discourage exploration through its difficulty, as health is easily lost and hard to recover, incentivizing you to just run through the levels. If you played and liked Dead Cells, ScourgeBringer will grab your attention and keep it. 7 Titan Quest Legendary Edition Titan Quest Legendary Edition brings the classic fantasy RPG to the Android platform. Player avatars spawn into the overworld and are free to run around, talk to NPCs, and engage enemies in top-down hack-and-slash combat. Items can be found scattered inside environments, treasure chests, and the bodies of defeated enemies, including usable weapons and armor. The app has a number of class specializations to pool XP into, granting different buffs and abilities to use in combat. With its engaging and complex skill trees, intuitive touch interface, and interesting mythology themes, Titan Quest Legendary Edition feels great to play on Android. 8 Grim Soul Monster Hunter RPG Grim Soul Monster Hunter RPG is a dark Western fantasy MMORPG that focuses on exploration and creativity. You start off with nothing and must work your way up the tech tree in an exceedingly bleak landscape. Looting downed enemies, mine resources, and upgrade your gear until you can afford to build your own stronghold. Choose from multiple ranged and melee weapons to defend yourself from enemies, and adapt to different combat styles to stay versatile in fights; always use the best tool for the job. Descend into randomly generated dungeons and battle tougher enemies for sweeter rewards. Atmospheric and content-rich, Grim Soul Monster Hunter RPG has been well-maintained since 2018. 9 Blade of God Vargr Souls Blade of God Vargr Souls is a third-person hack-and-slash game with a great emphasis on spectacle. It wastes no time in expressing its inspirations, pitting you against a big lava monster that you slowly dismember in stylish and brutal pre-animated takedowns, a signature feature of the God of War series. The game even takes place within Viking mythology, like the more recent God of War games. Combat itself is exactly what we've come to expect, a single attack button that branches out as the game progresses and you gain new equipment. Style-wise, Blade of God Vargr Souls is pretty over the top with scale, full of giant statues and castles shaped like skulls, with huge skeletons in lava for boss fights. The combat's impact is satisfying, the weapons are beautifully designed, and the enemies are really cool to defeat. 10 Grimvalor Grimvalor is a 2D hack-and-slash action-adventure game centered around stylish combat and fast-paced platforming. As per usual, you spawn into the world with the simple goal of moving to the right and killing whatever gets in your way. Grimvalor's platforming-centric control style makes aerial combat preferable to the boots-on-the-ground approach. Right from the start, you get a double jump, dash, and wall running ability, all for scaling the terrain and getting the drop on enemies. Said adversaries can feel insultingly easy at the beginning but ramp up in difficulty as the game goes on. The combat is captivating in that stylish Devil May Cry kind of way, in that, you feel skilled and competent without being overpowered. A treat for the God of War fans, to be sure. Show no mercy with the best Android games similar to God of War Alongside Devil May Cry, God of War helped pioneer the hack-and-slash genre, and these great games show off how influential these classics truly were, all with the superior technology of your favorite Android tablet. You can also thank these games for the consequence-free violence and focus on responsive controls in the best action games on the PlayStore. Whether you like old-school hack-and-slash titles like Scourgebringer or pulse-pounding fighting games like Mortal Kombat, there's always something new to play in this tried and true corner of game design. Want the authentic button-mashing experience? Take one of these responsive Android controllers for a spin and never miss an opening.

2. God of War Chains of Olympus foi lançado em 2008 — Foto Divulgação/Sony 3. The game is mostly the same: Kratos is still playing the "father simulator" and God of War is still a wonderful game that, at the time, offered an aesthetic experience hard to match up. However, nothing that existed in 2018 can be assumed as the reality that we live in the present day, the fateful AP (After Pandemic) World. Sony Santa Monica, the team behind God of War, may be working on a new sci-fi game. PlayStation houses some of the best developers in the industry with the likes of Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, and Sony Santa Monica. It allows for some world-class line-ups every generation, spawning industry-defining games like The Last of Us or the reboot of God of War. A lot of these studios have stuck with the franchises they know for the last decade, but it seems like the team at Sony Santa Monica is interested in branching out a bit more. We knew God of War 2018 director Cory Barlog had passed the torch to Eric Williams as Barlog was busy with other projects. We have been left in the dark for some time as to what this could be, but rumor has it it's a sci-fi game of some that said, it seems like Sony Santa Monica writer Alanah Pearce may have slipped up and confirmed that. On the Play, Watch, Listen podcast, Pearce was talking with Mike Bithell who noted that he was working on a "unspecified sci-fi franchise" and Pearce giggled at the vague description and said "same". Of course, she could just be joking around, but given the rumors have already suggested this to be the case, it wouldn't be surprising if she more or less just mistakenly corroborated those rumors. It doesn't really give us anything to go off of, though. It's unclear if this game would be a new IP or if it's a video game set in a popular sci-fi universe. Barlog is a pretty big Marvel fan, so maybe we'll get a new Marvel game. Disney has also started letting other developers take a crack at Star Wars, so maybe it's a Star Wars game. We likely won't know for quite a while. Either way, it sounds like Sony Santa Monica is cooking up something new for its do you want to see Sony Santa Monica make? Sonyshowed off new teasers and trailers for upcoming PlayStation 5 games, including a remake of "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic," "God of War: Ragnarok," the Korean action role-playing game "Project Eve," three new Marvel games "Wolverine," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Spider-Man 2," and more. Take a look at all the games announced.

God of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarok raised the bar for immersive, narrative-rich action-adventure games. It's only the fifth time IGN has awarded consecutive mainline games in a series review scores of 10, putting God of War in the company of The Legend of Zelda, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, and The Last of comparing a game to God of War sets it up for failure, and in turn, sets you up for disappointment. These games don't necessarily exceed the bar set by Santa Monica Studio, rather they share and successfully implement notable design and/or gameplay characteristics found in the recent God of War as we await news on the future of Kratos and Atreus, these are 7 games God of War fans may enjoy, whether you come to the series for its visceral third-person combat, inspired world design, compelling narrative, and/or exploration of Norse Senua’s SacrificeFor fans of God of War’s combat, Norse setting/mythological exploration, and/or Kratos in God of War 2018, Senua embarks on a perilous journey motivated by a deceased lover — a journey set within a similarly mythology-rich Norse world. Senua’s journey takes her to Ninja Theory’s iteration of Helheim, a mythological realm that will be familiar to those who played God of War, with appearances from shared characters like Garmr and Surtr. Like Kratos, Senua even carries and communicates with a decapitated head that swings from her for the gameplay, Hellblade and God of War share visceral third-person combat played from a tight, over-the-shoulder perspective. Cinematically, both games effectively employ a continuous, one-shot approach in service of elevated character-driven narrative is bolstered by an excellent performance Melina Joergens Senua and Christopher Judge Kratos each won Best Performance at The Game Awards, in 2017 and 2022, Last of Us Parts 1 & 2For fans of God of War’s story, immersive world, and/or cinematic Last of Us doesn’t share a lot in common with God of War from a setting or moment-to-moment gameplay perspective, though they can both be placed under the umbrella of thoughtfully designed, story-rich, technically marvelous, Sony-developed third-person action-adventure games. It’s a genre Sony and its first-party studios have mastered over the last two console generations, and no games embody that mastery more than God of War and The Last of best-in-class narratives in both series are driven by well-written characters and the emotionally complex relationships they share. Those who enjoyed the father-son dynamic of Kratos and Atreus will likely enjoy the parent-child-like dynamic of Joel and Ellie, as both games pair a morally questionable protector archetype with a vulnerable, wise-cracking teenager, and task the former with guiding the latter through a world of death and Creed ValhallaFor fans of God of War’s Norse setting/mythological exploration, combat, and/or RPG Creed Valhalla took Ubisoft’s flagship series to Northern Europe against the backdrop of Norse mythology. Many characters from the Nine Realms will be familiar to God of War players, including Odin, Loki, Thor, Freya/Freyja, and bloody, melee-weapon-based combat may appeal to God of War fans, while those who enjoyed GoW’s RPG elements will find even more of the genre’s mechanics baked into Valhalla — skill tree, loot, side activities galore, and stat-affecting armor that can be upgraded through resource gathering and more games like Assassin's Creed if you liked fans of God of War’s Norse mythology and/or boss offers a visually different exploration of Norse mythology. It trades the realistic graphics of God of War for beautifully hand-drawn environments and characters, including iterations of Jormungar, Thor, Freya, Mimir, and is a slower game than God of War, built largely on exploration and light puzzle-solving, though it’s capable of ramping up the intensity with well-designed, challenging boss fights against massive Norse giants. Rise of the Tomb RaiderFor fans of God of War’s semi-open-world of the Tomb Raider most notably shares God of War’s semi-open-world design, presenting players with multiple Metroidvania-like areas in which the levels circle back on themselves and expand as you progress. This design is well suited for games that balance combat, puzzles, and exploration, which Rise of the Tomb Raider and God of War do exceptionally Raider relies more on ranged combat, though its third-person perspective will be comfortable for God of War fans, as will Rise’s snowy setting and character-driven our guide to playing the Tomb Raider games in Wars Jedi Fallen Order & SurvivorFor fans of God of War’s semi-open-world design and/or those who love the semi-open-world design detailed above, we also recommend Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi games. Like God of War, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor are built around several explorable hubs with areas gated by progression-based abilities. GoW fans may also enjoy Jedi’s satisfying, melee-based third-person combat and inspired, challenging boss fights. The two series also share the secret sauce for a successful action-adventure game engaging moment-to-moment gameplay within an immersive world propelled by rewarding exploration and a compelling Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor were directed by Stig Asmussen, who directed God of War 3 for Sony Santa Monica before joining our picks for the best Star Wars games of all Walking Dead Season 1For fans of God of War’s The Walking Dead lives on the opposite end of gaming’s interactivity spectrum It’s a choice-based point-and-click adventure game with sparse action sequences experienced through QTEs. Playing The Walking Dead is nothing like playing God of War; experiencing it — the emotional resonance of its characters and story — five episodes, The Walking Dead’s first season tells one of the most memorable stories in games. Like God of War and The Last of Us, you play as a gruff man in search of redemption tasked with protecting and educating a precocious child in the midst of apocalyptic destruction. Lee and Clem are not blood, but their relationship quickly takes on the parent-child dynamic that fills the heart of God of War's to the God of War franchise?
